Update COVID-19: Service and Support Centres, English language tests, and 90-day validity of replacement visas
The Home Office has recently updated their guidance on advice for UK visa applicants and temporary UK residents, containing updated information on Service and Support Centres (SSCs) in the UK, English language testing centres in the UK, and the 90-day validity of replacement visas.
SSCs in the UK
A reduced number of appointments are being offered due to coronavirus. However, UKVI will invite visa applicants to arrange an appointment by email or post when more appointments are made available.
English language testing centres in the UK
Certain English Testing Centres are resuming services. If you would like to know which centres are reopening and how to book an English Language Test, you could contact one of the followings:
- your test centre
- Trinity College London
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- LangaugeCert website
- Pearson Test of English website
If your 30-day visa to work, study or join family has expired
Until the end of 2020, you can request a replacement visa that will be valid for 90 days.
When UK Visa Application Centres (VACs) reopen, you will be contacted to arrange a replacement visa to be endorsed in your passport.
Kindly note that you will not be penalised for not being able to collect your BRP while coronavirus measures are in place.
