Coronavirus and UK visa applications from China

The recent Coronavirus outbreak is causing complications for people with UK visas and for UK visa applications from China. The Home Office aims to mitigate those issues by publishing an interim short-term guidance on 7th February 2020.

Currently, all UK visa application centres in China are closed. Therefore, migrants cannot book appointments and proceed with their UK visa applications there. This can be very detrimental for family apart or UK employers waiting for a migrant worker to be granted their visa to start working in the UK.

The new guidance should include information for migrants in the UK whose leave has expired but cannot return to China due to the virus and applicants from China who cannot attend their biometric appointments to submit their applications.
