A new statement of changes to the Immigration Rules published to introduce the Global Talent category
Last Thursday, the Government has published a new statement of changes to the Immigration Rules.
It is expressly stated in the explanatory memorandum that the purpose of publishing the statement is to “introduce a new Global Talent category for talented and promising individuals in specific sectors wishing to work in the United Kingdom, replacing the existing Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) category.”
Further to our previous article on “fast-tracked entry to the United Kingdom for leading researchers”, the Home Office has now announced that the new, fast-track Global Talent visa scheme will open on 20th February 2020 and it aims to attract the world’s top scientists, researchers, and mathematicians. It is stated that there will be no cap on the number of people eligible to come to the UK under such a route.
