Start a business in the UK after graduation with Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) Visa
The Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur visa category allowed international graduates with a viable business plan to come to the UK to set up a business. This category is now closed to new applications but current holders of Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) Visa can still apply for extension and Indefinite Leave to Remain (settlement) under this category.
The UK government’s changes to some aspect of the Immigration Rules announced on 7 March 2019 came into force on 29 March 2019.
The end of the Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) Visa and Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) Visa categories were replaced by two new categories:
- Start-Up Migrant Visa
- Innovator Visa
More information will be shortly available on our website.
However, current holders of Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) Visa can still apply for a one-year extension under this category.
You previously could apply for a Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) Visa if you wished to establish one or more businesses in the United Kingdom after your graduation. You needed to be identified by Higher Education Institutions as being a person who had developed world class innovative ideas or entrepreneurial skills.
Your time on a Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) Visa will not count towards your Indefinite Leave to Remain (Settlement) application, however, you can switch into Start-Up Migrant Visa or Innovative Visa.
