EU Settlement & Pilot Scheme after Brexit
Once Brexit is triggered next year on 29th March 2019, the EU Settlement Scheme will be fully open on 30th March 2019 to EU citizens and their family members will be able to apply to get either settled or pre-settled status through the EU Settlement Scheme.
The deadline for applying under the new scheme will be 30 June 2021. But if you are joining an EU family member with settled or pre-settled status in the UK, you may be able to apply after 30 June 2021.
Please refer to our article via the link below for further details on the EU Settlement Scheme costs and what this means for you and your family:

Furthermore, the Home Office have launched a Pilot Scheme which allows eligible applicants to apply now, mainly if you or your family members are employed at one of the NHS Trusts, universities, health or social care sectors listed to use the EU Settlement Pilot Scheme. The Pilot Scheme closes on 21st December 2018.
Under the Pilot Scheme and the new scheme starting on 30 March 2019, as part of your application process, you will be asked to verify your identity. This can be done through an app called the EU Exit: ID Document Check app.
The main purpose of the EU Exit: ID Document Check app is to confirm that the identity document is authentic and genuine and also to verify that the document belongs to you.
The app will scan your identity document on your phone and will ask you to upload a digital photo of yourself to check the documents are genuine. Once the document verification has been completed on the app, you will be able to finalise your application.
If you are unable to use the EU Exit: ID Document Check app, then you can make an appointment to have your identity documents scanned and verified in person at a location of your choice. There are currently 13 locations around the UK, you can access the list here (put the link to the list of locations).
